NY Marriage?
After the victory of the Gay Marriage ban in California, the Democratic victory in both houses of congress and the presidency opens the door for the enactment of gay-marriage in the state of New York.
New York’s senate, for instance, in overwhelmingly Democratic. This takes away a clear obstacle for attaining gay Marriage in New York. There is however, a lot of work to be done, 
proponents admit.
During the times of Republican control of the NY senate, they blocked any attempt to allow marriage-equality. And even now, four democrats are thinking about aligning themselves with Republicans, cancelling out the thin Democratic majority (32-30).
Gay rights advocates acknowledge that any gay-marriage legislation would probably need to be bipartisan, and members of both parties think that the current economic crisis needs to be the legislature’s number one priority.

yes, today it’s the financial crisis, yesterday it was Bush, and tomorrow it’s going to be something ells. this is the problem with our movement, we are not assertive as we should be.
we need more healthy aggression, anger and ambition. is anyone out there that suits the description? because if there is I might fall in love with him.

Yes, I agree...it's always some other more pressing matter in the world. Let's see. When American Blacks in the 50s were discriminated by law, was this something that could also wait? And c'mon New York? This is plain sad.
